Thursday Journal with Neet

This week we are on purple, which is not a colour I use very much. I had to paint over an existing background with Dylusions purple paint to get a purple enough background.
I stamped and coloured the figures and added a quote. I had trouble stamping the leaves as the ink wouldn't dry.  What happened to blotting paper, has it disappeared off the planet !!

Go Tag Thursday -- Anything goes

The theme on Go Tag Thursday is anything goes.
Off on a course this afternoon, so a quick one as I'm not back until Friday, when I will be behind on next weeks as well. Having stamped the Lynne Perrella images I couldn't decide which ones to use, so made a double sided tag.
These will also conform to the Tag Tuesday theme which is Texture. They have ribbon, lace and flowers for texture..

Every Inchie Monday -- Tiger

It's the turn of the tiger this week on Every Inchie Monday. I drew the stampbord one and used some fabric and hand stitching for the fabric one. He does look a bit worn round the edges, today is even too hot for a tiger.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week it's pink, and I have used a double page that I had already stencilled. I painted over it with the two Dylusion pinks. I used two of Tim Holtz dog die cuts and a Dylusions figure.
Again I have had to scan with my iPad and the colours plus the weather are a bit dull.

Go Tag Thursday -- Fruit

On Go Tag Thursday the theme is Fruit. I am so late with this, as this Thursday there will be another one to do. Where does the time go.
For my tag I used distress inks on the background and stamped the pears on a separate piece of card. I coloured them with Derwent intense crayons.

Every Inchie Monday -- Zebra

This week we are off to Africa, and the zebra. Not an easy one to sew and this is my second attempt, the first one looked as if it had overdone the weight watchers diet. The stampbord one is shrink plastic. The sewn one looks a bit blue, as I had to use my iPad to scan it as my two proper scanners are being naughty.

Tag Tuesday -- Texture

On Tag Tuesday it is my turn to host the next two weeks challenge. I have chosen texture, and anything that gives texture can be used.
For my first sample I cut out a tag from corrugated card and used gesso and texture paste to start off with. I then painted it with metallic acrylic paints. Plasterers scrim, ribbons were added, and on the top of these I used accent beads, buttons. friendly plastic and clay embellishments. To add some bling I used glitter texture paste through a stencil.

I have added some photos of our open gardens. We didn't have so many visitors this year, but well worth the effort for charity, the weather was not good for wandering round gardens.
If I take any more, I'll put them on later.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the colour is orange. Once again I had an already painted page and went with that. The figure is a Dylusions one and the duck from one of my bird books. As I have a very busy week I have made this early and scheduled it for Thursday. I might try to do next weeks as well as I am away at the end of next week. Next week it's pink which is not a colour I like using.

Tag Tuesday -- Animals

We are still on the animal theme on  Tag Tuesday, and this time I have used two hare stamps from Stampotique. I hasten to add I don't own all of these stamps, I used two from a friend.
Again I used distress oxide inks on the background.

Every Inchie Monday-- Gorilla

I'm sort of happy with the stampbord shrink plastic one. The sewn one took three attempts before I was anywhere near happy with it. I tried a black and a grey felt one, and it was too difficult to show any features. The only finished one looked like a friendly bear, so I drew one on fabric and sewed round it.

Go Tag Thursday -- Road trip

On Go Tag Thursday the theme this week is road trip or holiday.  I have used a distress inked background and a torn piece of a road map. I stamped a line of caravans along one of the roads and a VW Campervan. I couldn't resist The well known saying as well.

Tag Tuesday -- Animals

For this fortnight on Tag Tuesday, Michele has chosen 'Animals' I have stamped two of Stampotique's querky animals, a giraffe and an ostrich.
The background is distress oxides with a small amount of stamping.

Thursday Journal with Neet

As Neet has had to empty her craft room, and can't find a lot of her stamps, we have abandoned doing any more countries until Neet is back in and sorted. So colours it is, and this week it is yellow. Not the easiest colour to work with, and I have used my last blank page in my journal and painted it with Dylusions yellow. I then used some other paints and stencils to make a background. The figure and some flowers are Dylusions and I added some die cuts as it was looking a bit flat and too yellow.

This is the second of my 3D embroideries that are mounted on blocks of oak. This is the green version and I am now working on an orange one.

Go Tag Thursday -- A country

Late again, I'll be pleased when opening the garden will be over and I can get back to normal again.
This week on Go Tag Thursday the theme is A Country. I have chosen India. I used napkins and papers for the background and added a picture of an Indian girl and some stamps and gems. For some reason only known to computers there is only a small part of the tag  showing.

I am also entering this on Tag Tuesday where it's anything goes.

Every Inchie Monday -- Kangaroo

It's down to Australia this week and the kangaroo. When we went to Australia I expected to see loads of kangaroos and they were not as many as we thought. The ones we did see were pretty chilled out, and not running/jumping about. They were just grazing on any reasonable grass they could find. They were also a lot bigger than I had imagined.
My stampbord is shrink plastic and the sewn one, made with great difficulty is fabric and stitching.

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week we are off to China. I thought that's OK I have lots of Oriental stamps. When I found them they were nearly all Japanese, so it was a quick think in another direction. On an already painted page I did a rough painting of the great wall and included some Dylusion figures.

Go Tag Thursday -- Tape Measures/ruler

On Go Tag Thursday the theme is Tape measure/ruler, and yes I do know it's Monday. I seem to be running out of days very quickly. I am putting this on before I go out and tackle a bit more of the garden. Only 12 days to go before we open.
For this tag I made myself use pink. I covered the tag with paper and added a background stamp.
The dress form I dressed in pink fabric. I also added some paper lace die cuts and some sewing charms and brads, and of course some measuring tape.

I am also entering this on Tag Tuesday where Valeries theme is anything goes.

Every Inchie Monday -- Panda

This week we are off to China and to the bamboo forests. I would imagine that these are a lot heavier than a koala, and I haven't been to China to see one in the wild. I had great fun with the felted sewn one as he kept overlapping the edge, so his rear end kept getting smaller. ( I wish I could do that on me)

Thursday Journal with Neet

This week the theme is travel. Having decided what I wanted to do, it took me ages to find my travel stamps, I had walked past them several times. This cold rainy weather is getting me down, and although it gives me more time to do arty things, it makes me want to get outside in the garden and get it ready for the opening.
I have used an already painted page and tore up and old road map for  the main background. The figure (Travelling Travis) is one of Dyan's stamps

Go Tag Thursday -- Friendship

I'm very late this week with my tag for Go Tag Thursday. The theme is friendship and I have used two Crafty Individuals stamps on a distress inked background, with some stamping. I added flowers to give it some dimension.

Every Inchie Monday -- Koala

This week we go to Australia and put a Koala bear on an inch. I did hold one when we were in Australia, a male, and he was very heavy. I also spotted one in the wild, asleep in a tree.

Thursday Journal with Neet -- Landscape

This weeks theme is landscape and I have used a double page, and painted it with acrylic paints.
I stamped the figure, dogs and cats on separate card and coloured them with my intense crayons.

Go Tag Thursday -- Mechanical

This is my second tag for Go Tag Thursday where the theme is mechanical.

Every Inchie Monday -- Flamingo

I enjoyed doing this one, even though it is quite difficult to put such a thin tall bird into an inch.
I saw flocks of these birds in Chile, where they were at the sides of the fiords. Your eye was suddenly drawn to a strange patch of pink, a colour that looked completely alien in that environment, surrounded by mountains and glaciers. They look very graceful, but their heads are not pretty. The sewn one looks as if it has little pink slippers and pink edged socks !! In fact if I had more time I would redo it.

Go Tag Thursday -- Mechanical

The theme on Go Tag Thursday this week is mechanical. I have started with a distress inked tag, that I embossed with an industrial texture. I stamped the images on separate card and coloured with distress inks.I then added some cogs to finish off.

Thursday journal with Neet

Have you ever thought you would be better off staying in bed some days. Well today was the one for me. As usual I had left the journal page until the last minute. The subject this week is Fashion.
I managed to get the figures on before lunch and then came down to do the wording. It was very clear from early on that I should have not left it so long. The words were finished and as I read through them I had left 3 letters out of one word and a whole word missed further on. Now what to do, the only thing I could think of was to gesso over it and start again. The gesso bit is drying as I type this. I decide to type the new words as it would take me too long to hand script them again
Goodbye gardening today, and we open the garden in 4 weeks!!!

Tag Tuesday -- Faces

The theme for this fortnight on Tag Tuesday is Chrissiea choice of Faces. I decided to do a fabric one for a change. The background is printed fabric and the image transferred onto fabric. I have finished it off with lace, beads, flowers and buttons. The lady looks a bit stern, I bet that little boy had to be as good as gold.
